Are Your Edges Sharp? CHECK!
I get asked all the time to check if scissors need to be sharpened, but that’s something you can easily do yourself with the fingernail test. Or, at least, you can check for any damage.
It’s simple: completely open and hold the scissors in one hand, and with your other hand carefully run the top of a fingernail along the length of each edge.
Sharp edges will feel smooth, while dull edges will feel rough. A noticeable bump indicates a nick in the blade. Nicked scissors should be set aside until they can be repaired.
